Education, although is a human right, has rather been a privilege in societies affected by inequity and injustice, both in social and systemic level. The responsibility of the government in ensuring that every child in its population has access to quality education always has hidden agenda that serves the needs of those in economical and political power.
Free education to the population of a nation seems like a progressive and socialistic solution to the economical needs of the state.
Indeed, it is.
Knowledge of the new world leads to new and progressive ways of thinking, systems of beliefs, and ideologies. By teaching knowledge of modernity and reform, and by eradicating systems of traditions, culture, faith, and language, you have the perfect formula in reconstructing a society that was considered a barrier to a progressive, resource-rich, and homogenous nation —more land for oil rigs, highways, and factories ; more workforce population for employment; more Christians in churches; and more money for the government.
Never mind how children get taken away from their families and communities.
Ignore their individual, cultural, linguistic, and philosophical identity.
Violate their human and societal rights for science, religion, and politics.
Lastly, disregard the personal and collective negative impacts of the assimilation and colonization that perseveres thru generations and generations of families and society, for the sake of the progress and development of a country.
